For the past few years, our organization, GSA, has been proud to send donations of recreation uniforms to teams in the community of Santa Engracia in the Tamaulipas State of Mexico, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our partner, Virgilio.
This wonderful project was started by my long-time friend, Hector Ramirez. What began as an effort to provide a healthy social and sports atmosphere for local youth has now grown, with the support of his son and other family friends, to house and support more and more children as they grow into adulthood.
Last year, the project faced a difficult challenge. Hector was diagnosed with an aggressive form of blood cancer. The medical treatments were exhausting, not only draining his energy for daily life but also making it incredibly difficult to collect the necessary resources to keep the teams going. He was on the verge of having to abandon this beautiful and vital work.
That’s when fate—and a wonderful person—stepped in. Jill, when you contacted me about the uniform donations, it was the perfect timing and exactly what the boys and girls on the teams needed to keep their spirits and their game strong.
From the bottom of our hearts, to Jill and everyone at GSA who made this donation possible, thank you very much. Your support is a true blessing to these young athletes and the dedicated individuals who champion them!
